Stereo headsets...
Hey all!
Well, I've been thinking, a stereo headset may help me play better, particularly when I need to hear directional sounds, like an opponent sneaking up on me.
Right now I'm playing on a 32" tube TV with built-in speakers that's like 10' away, so it's hard to see and impossible to hear well.
Anyone know anything about these cheapies? Will in-game sound come through them, or only chat?

Don't have the money for Turtle Beach, etc. and don't want to mess with wireless.
Thanks!

Don't go cheap
If you are an avid gamer as most of us just save up the extra clams for the Turtle Beach Ear Force X4's. At least go to Best Buy and buy 'em and try 'em out. If you don't think it's worth it just take 'em back. Wireless, Dolby Digital Surround, a must for anyone that lives in an apartment for late night gaming or to be able to hear the enemy scratching their ball sack across the map!

Re: Stereo headsets...
Looks like the Turtle Beach X4s are really the way to go. $169.99 at Newegg and eBay and $166.99+ at Walmart.com (not in-store).
I think these would help some, and moving back into more modern warfare with the new game should help a lot, too.
So I guess I have 4 months to decide if I'm going to invest that much into the new game and setup, and order them.
I wonder...Could I approach a 1.0 k/d and be a more effective member of the clan with these?
It's frustrating letting you guys down when I have the occasional 1-5 match.
Lately I've been getting back to the point where I'm torn between playing just to hang out with you guys...
...Then not wanting to play because I'm not "contributing". Really hate this Treyarch version.
Open to thoughts and opinions...

Re: Stereo headsets...
Do it Blue...cause that's gonna be the last thing you gotta do as far as communications/ audio. I've always had the surround sound home theatre...but since you got kiddos and shit, that's probably gonna be the way to go.

Dunno man. I've got to really think this through.
I had some good games on Modern Warfare, but this Treyarch bullshit is kicking my ass.
Got to decide if I really want to spend any money on shooters or if I need to bow out.
Tired of being the first killed and the bottom of the list.
Maybe I'll rent the new one and borrow a set of X4s from Best Buy and see how the first weekend goes...
I know these would help some, but I'm still "me", and I'm still playing on a POS 32" tube.

SNAP! The tube probably has something to do w/ it bro...don't get discouraged. You can only be as effective as the equipment being utilized. To hell w/ the audio...I would recommend you try and change your video 1st...but that's just me. Don't bow out bro. Even if I have to stick w/ ya the whole time, I'll do it. I'm sure any 1 of us would take turns doin that.

Vai, you're the man. I really appreciate your willingness to take the occasional loss to keep me around.
It's stuff like this that keeps me playing, really, especially since this new game, I only play to play with you guys.
I've been off work since March, and just not finding anything else local. Got royally screwed by the hospital.
The headset is going to be a massive stretch to get done before the new game comes out, I don't think a TV is in the cards.
Anyways, I'll try to chill and quit complaining so much, I just hate letting you guys down.
I figure something out. Thanks again!

Re: Stereo headsets...
So, I finally convinced the group to get some "old map - hardcore deathmatch" time in last night, and had a MUCH better night.
I went 11-0 on Cliffside (sniping, one aide arm kill, an artillery kill and a couple dog kills), earning my "Flawless" achievement, picked up the reticle sight for the Type 100 and got "Master Chef 2" with a 2-for-1 blind (radar) throw from the lower sniper tower into the dojo below it (by the location for Bomb A?) on Castle. Sure, my last match was a bit less spectacular, but I'll take the bad with the good - so long as there's some good to be had. I'm still a camping bitch, and need to get out and go after more kills sometimes, but at least I'm contributing to the game this way. Moral? I just completely suck at S&D and War. If we can go back to some Hardcore Team Deathmatch, I can be useful again.
